Ai Haibara is born in 1981 Okayama, Japan.

She earned her Master’s degree in 2006 from the Tokyo University of Arts, the Department of Sculpture.

Ai Haibara depicts the unexpected moment of children and recreates that into a wood carving.

Modeling a momentary scene of childhood that would be remembered as our living memory. Realistic wood carving colored in pale colors, gives the viewer feel nostalgia and eternal innocence.

The piece we are introducing today is a girl in a pink sailor uniform holding up flag signal. I wonder if she is dreaming of becoming a sailor and going on a big sea adventure.
