Introducing Ai Haibara’s unique work from CURIO private sales.
Ai Haibara is a sculptor born in 1981 in Okayama, Japan.
Her work is created with the combination of traditional wood carving with acrylic paint. Combined with Japan’s “Kawaii” (cute) culture that is spreading worldwide, her works have been attracting attention not only in Japan but also overseas in recent years.
Ai Haibara expresses unexpected moments of children and creates that into a wood carving. The works of boys and girls covered in light-colored acrylic paints look like soft dolls and give the works a unique warmth.
Three works introduced today are all cute wood sculptures with motifs of girls, just like a fairy tale.
