Let us introduce 10 pieces of the above artists from CURIO Private Sales.
| Adam Handler
A painter born in Queens, New York in 1986.
He uses acrylic, oil sticks, pencils, and markers as his art materials, and when he draws he takes a break from his mind and lets his work flow only from the emotions, actions, and spirit that arise.
The characters, outlined against a background of powerfully layered colors and patterns, are like children’s drawings and exude a sense of innocence. Ghosts and cute girls are recurring motifs in his work.
Here are two unique pieces from Handler.
| Yutaka Hashimoto
Boy-like characters appear repeatedly in Hashimoto Yutaka’s work.
The artist himself says,
“The characters that I use as motifs in my works are common images that I have created by reconstructing the characters that various Japanese manga artists, including Tezuka Osamu, created under the influence of Walt Disney.”
| Barry McGee
Two unique pieces with geometric patterns, each with a size that gives them presence and impact.
| Hikari Shimoda
According to the artist, she wanted to express “the sensations and emotions that humans themselves possess,” and chose children for that purpose. She believes that children, whose identities are still unclear, can express “humanity itself” without being bound by gender or attributes.
| Wizard Skull
He is said to tease out pop culture and commercialism through his bent portraits and humorous and sometimes vulgar representations of cartoon characters
|Geoffrey Bouillot
A French-born, Tokyo-based artist, his unique visual works, created using only black and white, and characterized by contrast and gradation, have earned him great acclaim both in Japan and overseas.
