| Kotao Tomozawa
 

Kotao Tomozawa was born in 1999 in Bordeaux, France. She graduated from the Graduate School of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts in 2024 and currently lives in Japan.

KotaoTomozawa’s signature motif is heads masked by slime or gel-like ribbons. Painting in oil on canvas, she dipicts lifelike flesh tones with vibrant colour. She takes inspiration from calming moments of her youth spent playing with slime.

 

Despite her young age, Kotao has a unique worldview and is making her presence known in the field of contemporary art.

This piece introduced today is very large and impressive. It’s around  2 m tall which is very rare.

Munakata Shiko is a world-renowned printmaker.

Munakata calls his prints “woodblock prints,” and while using traditional woodblock printing techniques, he conveys the charm of Japanese tradition and nature by taking advantage of the texture of the wooden boards, the beauty of the grain, and the shading of the ink.

The word “woodblock prints” reflects Munakata’s belief that the soul of the wood must be directly created.
